If you are a victim of gum disease, we have a way to restore the health of your oral cavity and improve the appearance of your smile.

Gum disease occurs when the plaque on your teeth is left untreated. When this happens, the plaque will begin to irritate your gums and make them recede, which is when they shrivel and move away from the teeth. In order to correct this condition, we proudly offer gum grafting in Opelika, Alabama.

There are three different gum grafting techniques we can use, depending on the condition of your oral cavity, which include:

• Connective Tissue Grafts: During this treatment, the skin below your first layer of your skin on the palate is removed. This skin is then placed onto the affected area of the mouth and is stitched into place.
• Free Gingival Grafts: During this treatment, Dr. Tatum or Dr. Cox will take tissue from the roof of the mouth and stitch it into the affected area. This method is typically used when one has thin gums and needs additional tissue.
• Pedicle Grafts: During this treatment, your dentist will partially cut the gums nearby and will stretch them over the affected area of your mouth. Then, we will stitch it into place. This is generally used for those who have plenty of gum tissue near the tooth.
