Do you wish to restore your tooth’s shape, size, and strength? If so, Dr. Tatum & Dr. Cox are here to help you by covering your stubborn tooth with a dental crown!

A dental crown in Opelika, Alabama, is a tooth-shaped cap that covers the entire visible portion of your tooth to disguise the imperfections that distract from your smile. The crown has the ability to:

• Protect a weak tooth
• Restore a broken tooth
• Support a tooth with a large filling
• Make a cosmetic modification
• Hold a dental bridge in place
• Disguise a severely discolored tooth
• Cover a dental implant

The process of placing a crown will only require two visits to Tatum & Cox. During your first visit, your dentist will numb your tooth and surrounding area with a local anesthetic. When your mouth is numb, your dentist will shave the surfaces of your tooth to allow room for the crown. Once the tooth is the correct shape and size, we will make impressions of your tooth and will send them to the in-office dental lab where your crown will be made for you. Between your first and second visits, you will be given a temporary crown that will give you the functionality you need throughout the day. During your second visit, your dentist will check and adjust the crown to make sure it fits perfectly with your smile and bite. When we find the proper fit, the crown will be permanently cemented into place.
